Technology Director B2C

ABOUT THE JOB
At Impact Commerce, we're looking for a Technology Director to set our technical vision, bridge the gap between technology and business, and help shape the future of digital commerce — for our clients and for our own organisation.
With deep technical expertise, you'll integrate solutions that support digital transformation and strategic objectives, lead the development of advanced solutions, stay ahead of industry trends, and oversee operations to ensure projects land on time and on budget.
This is a dual role: half consulting, half commercial. You'll provide visionary technical leadership on high-stakes client engagements, while also acting as a trusted advisor to our Sales organisation — translating deep technical expertise into business value that wins deals and builds lasting client relationships.
YOUR PROFILE
As Technology Director, you will set a clear tech vision aligned with business goals and develop a strategic tech plan that drives innovation and competitiveness. You'll build strong relationships with stakeholders — including C-level executives — bridging the gap between technical and non-technical teams to ensure successful project delivery
Additionally we expect you to:
Strategic vision & market leadership
Build and drive industry innovation and blueprint development — defining, improving, and owning our strategic technical blueprints.
Partner with Sales and Account Management to translate technical complexity into clear business value propositions, ensuring a smooth, well-informed sales process.
Secure that everyone in Sales understands Impact Commerce's tech priorities — acting as the connective tissue between our technology roadmap and our commercial teams.
Engage in pre-sales activities, including technical presentations, client workshops, and discovery sessions — identifying client pain points and designing tailored technical solutions.
Combine deep tech insight with sharp commercial understanding to deliver real business value.
Collaborate closely with C-level executives, marketing, sales, and product teams to align technology strategy with broader business goals.
Lead digital transformation efforts and champion innovation through cutting-edge technology solutions.
Technical mastery & domain expertise
Master the intricacies of B2C processes — from commerce to lead generation and marketplaces.
Provide hands-on technical leadership during key phases of client projects, overseeing architecture, design, development, and implementation.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for prospective clients during proposal and pitch phases, ensuring solutions align with both client needs and internal capabilities.
Offer ongoing technical consultation to key clients — identifying optimisation opportunities and presenting technical roadmaps.
Mentor and guide development teams on new technologies and approaches; lead technical workshops to upskill internal teams.
Design holistic, end-to-end architecture with specialisation in areas such as frontend, martech, and integrations.
Maintain and grow our organisation's platform expertise.
Strategic thinking & collaboration
Lead through thought leadership and expert opinion — be a recognised authority whose insight shapes decision-making.
Build cross-functional relationships that connect diverse disciplines into cohesive solutions.
Act as solution architect and strategic thinker, translating complex ideas into actionable plans.
Serve as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders alike.
Own a leadership role with a dotted-line reporting structure, blending formal and informal leadership.

At last, we imagine you have:
Experience as a CTO, Senior Technology Director, or in a similar role leading transformative projects.
Strong consultancy and sales expertise, with a track record of translating technology into commercial value.
Demonstrated success leading high-stakes, full-cycle commerce projects.
A strong ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Deep technological understanding of platforms such as Commercetools, Contentful, and Optimizely.
An international outlook — global experience and a diverse leadership profile are a strong plus.
A genuine drive to be an individual contributor and a visionary leader in equal measure.
